Our Team

Gill and Tara were trained in Schema Therapy by Jeffrey Young, the founder of Schema Therapy, at his New York Institute of Schema Therapy in 2008, going on to become ISST-certified Advanced Schema Therapists, Supervisors and Trainers, and ISST-approved Certification Programme Directors in 2012. They are both Chartered Clinical Psychologists with experience in the NHS.

Together, they wrote the chapter Schema Therapy in the The Handbook of Adult Clinical Psychology - An Evidence Based Practice Approach (2016, Carr & McNulty) and developed the Schema Therapy Toolkit training videos resource. Gill also edited Creative Methods in Schema Therapy  (2020) and both Tara and Gill contributed chapters to this volume.

Gill qualified as a Clinical Psychologist from University College London (UCL) in 2004 and trained as a Schema Therapist under Jeffrey Young at the New York Institute of Schema Therapy in 2008.

She and Tara co-authored the chapter Schema Therapy in the The Handbook of Adult Clinical Psychology - An Evidence Based Practice Approach (2016, Carr & McNulty) and developed the Schema Therapy Toolkit training videos resource. Gill also edited and contributed chapters to the book, Creative Methods in Schema Therapy (2020); and she and a client were interviewed about Schema Therapy for the BABCP podcast Let's Talk About CBT: Schema Therapy’.

As well as being an Advanced Schema Therapy Supervisor and Trainer, Gill is trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. She has worked as a therapist, supervisor and service lead in NHS secondary/tertiary care services for adults with severe and enduring mental health problems, eating and personality disorders. She has taught on UK Doctoral Clinical and Counselling Psychology Programmes and offers training and supervision in Schema Therapy. She currently runs a private practice in London.

Dr Tara Cutland Green

Tara qualified as a Clinical Psychologist from the University of Leeds in 2000 and is an Advanced Schema Therapy Supervisor and Trainer. She has a background in a range of therapies (including CBT and DBT) but since being trained by Jeffrey Young at the New York Institute of Schema Therapy in 2008 has specialised in Schema Therapy and more recently, EMDR. In addition to offering individual therapy, couples therapy and supervision, she delivers training in the UK and abroad and serves on the ISST Executive Board in the role of Training Coordinator.

She and Gill co-authored the chapter Schema Therapy in the The Handbook of Adult Clinical Psychology - An Evidence Based Practice Approach (2016, Carr & McNulty) and developed the Schema Therapy Toolkit training videos resource. Tara, with Anna Balfour, also contributed the chapter Assessment and Formulation in Schema Therapy to the book, Creative Methods in Schema Therapy (2020).

Tara has been a professional lead in the NHS, developed a personality disorder team in NZ, served on NZ’s National Personality Disorders committee, been an external assessor for the University of Middlesex, validating a Masters degree in Integrative Therapy and has taught on UK Doctoral Clinical Psychology Programmes. She currently runs a private practice online from Yorkshire.
