Getting to Grips with Forensic Schema Therapy

A Practical One-Day Workshop

with Louise Coates, Consultant Forensic Psychologist

LIVE AND ONLINE ON MONDAY 3RD MARCH (9AM TO 4PM, UK TIME) £175

Many forensic practitioners are keen to use ST but feel daunted at the prospect of opening up something they and their patient can’t handle. For others there is a concern it won’t be effective due to the level of trauma, mode severity or systemic factors that perpetuate schemas. In addition, forensic practitioners have to manage their own schemas and modes in the face of working with the most challenging cases, in the most challenging conditions. This workshop has been designed with these needs in mind.

Over the course of the day you will be equipped with core skills and resources in:

·      Understanding the Evidence Base and What We Know Works

·      Formulating Forensic Modes, their Origins, Functions and Unmet Needs

·      Forging an Alliance with the Healthy Adult

·      Working with the Therapy Relationship

·      Applying Core ST Methods with Forensic Modes

·      Thriving within Difficult Organisations

·      Understanding our Modes and Valuing our Needs

·      Building a Personal Self-Care Plan and Finding the Right Support

The workshop is also highly interactive with a balance of teaching, experiential work and skills training, including video and live demonstration. It is suitable for anyone who has previously attended an introductory schema therapy workshop but also for those who are more experienced in ST.

About the trainer:

Louise Coates (Consultant Forensic Psychologist) has extensive experience of using schema therapy in forensic settings, developing trauma-led services and also supervising and training forensic psychologists. Louise is former Committee Member of the BPS Division of Forensic Psychology and is widely published in the field.
